What is air ambulance?
A type of activity such as air ambulance appeared over a century ago. Aviation in itself is a combination of high standards and uncompromising professionalism. It is in no way inferior to medicine in professionalism.
The combination of these two unique types of activities has allowed the emergence of a completely new, interesting and important profession - sanitary aviation, so says Dr. Denis Slinkin.
What is sanitary aviation? According to Dr. Denis Slinkin, this is when, regardless of the season, the time of day for us and our relatives is carried by air by a special plane or helicopter equipped with professional medical equipment. In almost all cases, the patient is accompanied by one or two intensive care physicians.
During the military operations of the last century and nowadays, the use of airplanes and helicopters of sanitary aviation allowed to quickly bring the wounded to hospitals and provide them with timely qualified medical care. Also with the help of sanatorium-aviation a lot of victims of different emergency situations and mass disasters were saved, and emergency aid to the sick started already during the flight.
Just a few years ago, the order of a medical plane or charter flight for a private individual could afford only a few, now the development of the modern air transport market has led to a reduction in the cost of medical transportation.
For the same reason, the time spent on the organization of air transportation of a patient has been reduced. All this, combined, makes it possible to get any patient or victim as quickly and reliably as possible to the hospital for care and treatment.
Sometimes it turns out that the air ambulance service is currently the only means of rescue, because transportation by any other means of transport is impossible or for technical reasons, or is contraindicated due to the health of the patient, so says Dr. Denis Slinkin.
There are three types of sanitary aviation:
- Transportation of a patient by passenger flight accompanied by medical personnel, the most accessible type of air transportation.
- Individual plane or helicopter, specially departing for the patient.
- Special medical care is the organization of shuttle air transportation for maximum safety of the resuscitation patient.
