Additional Companion Travel Information-
On many flights we may recommend an additional companion travel with the patient. A familiar face onboard often releases tension and anxiety before and during a flight. Allied does not charge additional for this service although there are space and luggage limitations.
More than one additional passenger may accompany the patient depending on the crew staffing and aircraft utilized. In some situations, additional passengers may be restricted from traveling with a patient.
As a general "rule of thumb" we allow a total of two (2) carry-on size bags TOTAL. Allied will assist in shipping additional luggage prior to the flight, however, shipping costs are the responsibility of the client. All carry-on luggage may be subject to inspection.
Documentation Requirements for International Flights-
The following information is required for ALL individuals traveling internationally.
- Legal Name
- Date of Birth
- Passport number and expiration date (photocopy preferred)
- Visa information (if applicable)
- Relationship to patient
- Date entered the country (may not be applicable)
This information will allow us to arrange international handling, customs, and immigration quickly and efficiently.
Ground Transportation to/from Aircraft-
Allied's complete "bed to bed" service is recommended for every mission. This means we will handle ALL logistics for patient (and companion) travel.
Although ambulances are utilized in 90% of patient ground transports, stretcher vans and wheelchair vans may be more cost effective alternatives- depending on the patients medical condition. Usually the passenger(s) may travel in the ground ambulance to and from the airports with the patient.
